Ten line poem morphs into 5 minute play

Claire Booker’s play ‘Lost Property’ was selected for performance by The Lost Theatre Company in South london last month as part of their 5 Minute Drama Festival.  ’Lost Property’ started life as a ten line poem with a surreal angle on bereavement.

By introducing an additional character and developing the inherent humour in the poem, Claire was able to create a piece of darkly comic drama.  Promising young actors, David Bevan and Maria Askew, took on the two roles and helped fine-tune the piece during rehearsals.

“A couple of very original oddball characters, along with strong performances, made this play very enjoyable. Interesting idea and some great play with parallels between real life and material loss in our lives. Highly commended.”  Festival judging panel.

There’ll be another chance to see ‘Lost Property’ on Wednesday 14th March 2012 at 8pm at the Poetry Cafe, 22 Betterton Street, Covent Garden, WC2H 9BX, where it will be performed, alongside another of Claire’s short plays, as a feature at Loose Muse.
